The station was busy. Travelers chatted. Wheels rattled. The bell rang for the next train.

Comet tucked his ears down. He liked his friends, but all the sounds felt big.

“I need a quieter place,” he told Maya.

They asked the conductor where they could sit together. He showed them a small reading nook beside the garden window.

Maya brought a cushion. Comet chose a book with pictures of leaves. They sat close enough to see the conductor at his desk.

For a little while, nobody asked Comet to talk. He watched one leaf turning slowly outside the glass.

After a rest, he lifted his ears.

“Ready to say goodbye to Pip?” Maya asked.

Comet nodded. They walked back together. The station was still busy, but his pause had helped.

At home, they put a soft cushion by their own window. A quiet corner could be part of an adventure, too.
