Pip knitted a scarf for the winter picnic. He made it long enough for one mouse, then two, then almost three.

When he tried to fold it, the ends slipped from his paws. One end fell over his chair. The other curled beneath the table.

“I should be able to do this,” he muttered.

Maya offered to hold one end. Pip shook his head, then looked at the tangle again.

“Actually, yes, please,” he said.

Maya held an end while Comet cleared a space on the table. Pip laid the scarf down and folded it in half. Then they folded it together once more.

Now it fit neatly in his basket.

“You made the scarf,” Maya said. “We just helped it get ready.”

At the picnic, Pip wrapped it around his shoulders and still had room for a chilly friend. Asking for help had made his own hard work easier to carry.
